COVA Framework

The COVA learning approach has impacted me as a Teacher, Leader, and Administrator. This is not just something we have to do with our students but with our learning communities as well. Allowing people to have a Choice in my perspective is the most important component. Most of us in education tend to fill the blanks and complete the checklist for the test.

The purpose of the COVA approach has made a significant change in my leadership, as I am focusing more in to create opportunities for students and teachers to show their potential. Starting this master with that approach has not been easy, as my mind was fixed and set to do everything the same way. Now, I see the changes in myself and the people around me.

Ownership is the more challenging part for me. As I mentioned before, education has the old fashion way to do the same over and over again. Teachers follow their curriculum (set 3 years ago), we go after preparing students to pass the same test every year, and all becomes a way to just complete the assignments for the year. Knowing the proper way to break this habit/structure is challenging.

All media resources from Dr. Harapnuik are simple and effective to see the difference between a regular model and the COVA approach. This information is reflected on my own personal ePortfolio which is been created with Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authentic Learning.
