Professional Learning Networks

 

Constantly learning is fundamental to improve ourselves and cannot be possible in isolation. Personally, I do have a combination of resources to keep me updated, informed, and constantly pushing my thinking.

My primary contribution is my immediate Leadership Team at Central Middle School. We do not just meet in person but find our way and time to do it via ZOOM. We are checking our goals and maintaining the communication constantly.

My Lamar University Study Group. This combination of professionals from other grade levels, educational settings, and different states has become an incredible network of professionals that push my thinking every week.  

This report profiles key trends and emerging technologies and practices shaping the future of teaching and learning and envisions several scenarios and implications for that future. It is based on the perspectives and expertise of a global panel of leaders from across the higher education landscape. 

This foundation is dedicated to transforming K-12 education so that all students can acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to thrive in their studies, careers, and adult lives. Founded by innovative and award-winning filmmaker George Lucas in 1991, they take a strategic approach to improving K-12 education through two distinct areas of focus: Edutopia and Lucas Education Research.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment, and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

Tynker powers the creativity of over 60 million kids and serves thousands of schools and educators worldwide. Their interactive story-based learning allows kids to learn the basics with easy block-based coding challenges before seamlessly transitioning to real-world text-based languages like JavaScript and Python.

Tinkercad is a free, easy-to-use app for 3D design, electronics, and coding. It’s used by teachers, kids, hobbyists, and designers to imagine, design, and make anything.

MakerBot Print is free software that optimizes and streamlines the 3D printing process for any workflow. It allows you to discover, prepare, manage, and share 3D prints.
