PROFESSIONAL LEARNING OUTLINE / TIMELINE

In order to change our current professional learning system, we have to make changes on the approach and understand WHY we are doing them. Typically these sessions are a once and done, “sit and get” presentation, although some options are online or take several weeks over the summer. Together, my team and I created a schedule of how we plan to implement our new professional learning implementation. We have thoughtfully organized a timeline that would allow our learners to have adequate time to have our innovation be modeled by the project facilitator, myself, and other coaches. We plan to create a solid foundation of growth mindsetCSLE and COVA. Our learners will be guided along this phenomenal journey to later be the facilitator in their own classroom to their own learners. Since our learners are creating their own ePortfolio, we have incorporated plenty of time for support and coaching throughout these critical phases. Our learners will learn how to effectively reflect, connect and learn through collaboration, modeling and application. In order to do this, we are setting our outline in 5 phases:

In order to successfully implement Blended Learning (through ePortfolios), teachers must receive proper training that includes collaboration, modeling, and application. This must be done over a period of time to allow for deeper learning and must be provided in a way that is relevant to their grade level and content. Over the course of the one-year professional learning course, teachers will become familiar with ePortfolios and their possibilities, create their own ePortfolios and learn how to use ePortfolios as a tool with their students to assist students in creating their own ePortfolios. Classroom implementation has already begun in the PL Facilitator’s Leadership Team and will continue in our Engineering Club to be introduce in the classrooms of the teachers that register for the ePortfolio PL course. The ePortfolios will be online and shared with parents and other community members throughout the process as well.
