Innovation Plan Update
When I began working on my innovation project, I did not see the magnitude and all the steps they were going to be required to implement something successfully. Initially, I wanted to start with something small and see if that was something that was going to go along with what my school was doing. When the journey began, I noticed my Innovation plan was going to be something that my school was doing; it was not centered on the same values. We were preparing students for the test, but we’re not doing a great job preparing students for learning.
I started having this approach with my teachers during collaborative learning meetings, and their reaction was similar to mine at the beginning, with some confusion and some frustration. Now I realize that what I am suggesting it’s not easy, but it can definitely change lives. Letting people know that they have a choice, ownership, and voice is challenging. Currently, I am developing an online course that will allow people to discover the growth mindset and introduce them to the world of ePortfolios.
I hope that the first teachers who will be going through my online course will be the seeds my school needs. I do not have a classroom, which is a factor preventing me from innovating with my students. I am started providing examples to other teachers in different content other than Math, but it is too early in the game.
I am promoting my learning and my tools by referring to my ePortfolio. I started using several Blended learning Models during PLCC, but I made a significant switch to ePortfolios. Using my peers as examples creates an excitement that I will use to invite people to learn using my online course experience.
If I have to make this journey again, I will create my collaborative groups on week one and not feel overwhelmed like at the beginning. This learning environment is for me, and I am glad of everything I was able to do with my innovation plan. 2022 will be the year of the implementation.
